We Love You, Friends

Thank you so much for your beautiful words and messages, friends and furriends. We are taking a few days to heal a bit before we visit each of you. Tristan is back home with us now, her lovely urn is in a place of honor. She was very ill over the weekend, and suffered a stroke on Tuesday. Our Mom held her and kissed her as she was given The Bridge medicine. It was peaceful.

Today is Tristan's 16th Happy Birthday! She's had a rough go-of-it lately, but she is doing well now. We love all of you and we thank you so much for being the wonderful friends and furriends that you are:)

Betterer and Betterer

Tristan Update: It's a purracle! Tristan went to visit her V-E-T today and he reported that she can see! Her retinas have reattached, her blood pressure is normal, her thyroid levels are very good and she even gained more weight. We worked around the clock medicating, hand-feeding, petting, holding and hugging our sweet girl and now we are overjoyed with the results! We weren't ready to let her go and Tristan was willing to fight, so we did what we had to do. Thank you sooooo much for standing with us, friends and furriends. Your advice, your love and your sweet care means more to us than you can ever know. ~Crikey and Angela

Tristan Update

We thank you, furriends and friends. Your support during this time is so appreciated...and needed. Tristan visited her V-E-T yesterday, and we learned that her high blood pressure is now under control (with medication) and that there is a slight improvement in her retinas. She is still blind, but we're encouraged by the words "slight improvement." Many of our bloggie friends told us that retinas can sometimes reattach, and our V-E-T said that they are correct. We're praying that this is going to happen for us. And guess what? Tristan gained 2 ounces last week! Of course, it's hard to see her at 6 pounds when she used to weigh 17, but we're encouraged.

Tristan is learning quickly! We have created a safe environment for her (with a pet fence) and she has learned where her food, litter box, heated cat bed and play tent are placed. Through all of this misery, Tristan keeps purring away! She's amazing. We'll be around to visit each of our bloggie furriends this weekend. We love you so much, and are so blessed to be part of this unbelievable community.

Purraying for Tristan

It's with a heavy heart that we share our news about our beautiful Tristan.

As many of our furriends know, Tristan has been suffering from Hyperthyroidism, Arthritis and the early stages of Renal failure. She's been a very good girl through all of this, and has been taking all of her medications.

Last week, Tristan went totally blind when her retinas detached. This was caused by high blood pressure. We didn't know she had high blood pressure because the other conditions somehow masked it. Our Mom couldn't bring herself to do what she called "the right thing" last week when our V-E-T gave her the horrible news. Please purr for us as we go through this terrible time of decision making.

Today is my 8th Happy Birthday! I can't believe that it's been a whole year since I celebrated the last one. I've been on a diet for a month so I'm not looking for lots of treats today. I turn 15 years old today! I want to thank all of my friends and furriends for the Happy Birthday wishes:) My family is back in Missouri now, and we've been busy unpacking and putting things away. Something else has happened! My Mom has started something called a new j-o-b. Whatever this j-o-b thingie is, I don't like it! I'm very concerned about this blog being updated regularly. I mean, the blog should come first, right? Right! My Mom has promised to get things back on track this weekend. Thank goodness! Now, where's my cake?

Bandit Was Here, by Crikey

I found out something very shocking today, furriends. I was waiting at the door for my Mom when she returned from a shopping expedition, and when she walked in she said, "Hi, Bandit." Then my Mom started laughing and shaking her head. Bandit? Just WHO is Bandit? Well, I called Tristan to ask about this Bandit character, and do you want to know what I found out? I found out that Tristan used to have a woofie brother named Bandit. OMC! Bandit was a red miniature Dachshund, and he lived with the beans from 1992-2002. He was Tristan's big brother!
This explains why there is a very special urn in our home. It also explains why Tristan isn't afraid of woofies. Bandit died in my Mom's arms on the way to the V-E-T, early one morning. His heart attacked him, so he went to The Bridge while my Dad was driving. My Mom was so crushed. The neighbors came to our home to pay their condolences, and my Mom's boss sent flowers and gave her two days off of work.
Tristan said that Bandit wasn't so bad, so I guess it's okay if my Mom accidently calls me Bandit:)

Our visitor is...The Girl! Tuesday, I was very happy to see The Girl (my bean sister) walk through the door! I've been kissing her, rubbing on her, and I even slept with her last night:) I haven't seen her since last August. My Mom has been using that horrible vacuum, and she's been cleaning, shopping, and making the guest room look real pretty. Apparently, we are going to have a house guest arriving this evening. My Mom won't tell me who it is, but she said that they are coming on a jet plane. She also said that the guest is someone that I like. Who could it be? I know that it's not Tristan, because she's still at the Missouri nest. The suspense is driving me crazy!

It's Acatemy Awards time again! Has it really been a whole year? Once again, Fin is providing the CB with several days of fun. Stray on over to her blog to see who else is participating.

Tristan had a starring role in the 2009 remake of the fev-ver classic, The Birds. Please note that no birdies were harmed in the making of the movie or the movie poster. Tristan did get pecked on the head a few times though.

Not to be outdone by his older sister, Crikey accepted the leading cat role in the latest Harry Potter blockbuster. Although he was up to the challenge, Crikey found that working with the "professional" cats that play Mrs. Norris and Crookshanks, was less than savory.

Today we honor our Squillions, and tomorrow we will celebrate Duffey's Gotcha Day! We can't believe that he's been sitting on our sidebar for a whole year. Duffey is named after our Irish grandma bean.

Jingle came to live on our sidebar last December. We thought that Duffey might be a little lonely, so we sent in an adoption request, and in just a short time Jingle was ours. The two of them get along really well, and they spend their days on the lookout for The Loch Ness Monster. Just like us, they too believe.

Our Final Events

The 2010 CAT-O-Lympics are drawing to a close, so today we're posting our final entries.

At the last minute, Tristan decided that she wasn't too old to compete, so she joined her good furriend Rusty, in his Stairs Climbing Event. Here we have Tristan examining her course. The basement is a little frightening to begin with, so she takes every precaution in her attempt to navigate the steep stairs.
It was a treacherous ordeal, but she managed to cross the finish step! Great job, old girl!

For his final event, Crikey chose to enter the Late Night Human Wakeup challenge being held by his buddy, Tuck. This is Crikey after he executed his famous eyelid lick, and just before he got his tail kicked. This move never fails to get his Mom out of bed! Notice the late hour, as evidenced by the darkness beyond the windows. He's a pro!

Bird and Squirrel Watching Event

I've thrown my fur into the Bird and Squirrel Watching Event over at The Furry Bambinos.

This is my best squirrel watching move. Notice my tense neck muscles and purrfectly perked ears. I'm giving it all I've got!

Birdie watching/hunting takes skill as well as stealth. One of my signature moves is the Sniff and Peel. I execute this by sniffing the birdie tracks and then keeping my eyes peeled for any movement. Or fev-vers.

I have to stay in and watch my Mom clean the windows, and do you want to know why? It's totally not my fault, let me say that from the beginning. Well, maybe it is...

We were out on the balcony cleaning the windows when the phone rang. It was my Dad. My Mom turned her back on me for about one minute, and when she turned back to look at me I was gone. My Mom started to FREAK OUT! She started yelling, "Where is Crikey? Where is he?" After a few seconds of screaming, she told my Dad that she had to go. Then she started running through all of the rooms in The Perch. Obviously she didn't find me, so she ran back out to the balcony and kept looking over the ledge. Poor old Mom was convinced that I had climbed up on the vacuum and taken the "big leap." She really should have known better, considering that I'm terrified of the vacuum, and won't go anywhere near it.

This is where I was! I was hiding under the chairs, and when my Mom called for me I just stayed put. Hee Hee Hee!

Here's the view beyond our balcony. Do you see those little dots and dashes in front of the landscaping on the beach? Those are lounge chairs! Yeah, we're pretty high up.

So, I was banned from the balcony for the rest of the day all because I did The Hidey. Rats! Uh Mom, you missed a spot. And next time, don't leave anything even remotely near the railing.

My Birthday in The Jungle

Today is my seventh Happy Birthday! My beans asked me what I wanted to do today, so I told them that I'd love to spend the day in The Jungle. If you would like to join me, just close your eyeballs and tap your paws together. When you've tapped for a minute or so, start chanting, "There's no place like The Jungle...there's no place like The Jungle." Once you've landed in the grass, make sure that you're not under the giraffe. You might get plopped on the head with poop like I did! Now, let's learn how to roar like lions!

She Left on a Jet Plane

It's not fair, I tell you! Do you want to know where Tristan is right now?

My sister loves to fly, everyone knows that. Well, yesterday she got to ride in a taxi and fly on a plane! Most of our furriends know that we live in a Perch high above the beach in Florida. What some of you may not know, is that we have a Missouri Compound. Our Dad has to do some business in MO for a few months, so he'll be staying at The Compound. And...since Tristan doesn't like The Perch, our Dad decided to take her with him. That means...

Tristan will get to visit with our old furriend!

And she'll be watching birdies and evil squirrels in my backyard garden paradise. That is so not right!

Before Tristan and our Dad left yesterday, our Mom opened up a secret compartment in her ring, and poured a potion into Tristan's mouth. Tristan gave me a smug look right before she swallowed the potion. In ten minutes time, she walked into our hallway and Timberrrrrrrr! She was down for the count! Hahahaha! That's what she gets!

Our Dad said that the trip went smoothly, and that Tristan slept until the evening. While she was sleeping, our Dad went and bought her a big new bed, new dog litter box, new everything! Hello! Did they forget that it's my birthday this weekend?

This morning our Dad reported that Tristan ran around The Compound. She ran? Tristan is too old to run. She must be one happy cat today. Rats!

Our Dad came home on Tuesday night! He's been away on business for two whole months, so our Mom was soooooo happy to see him. Tristan and I were happy too, don't get me wrong. The problem is...our Mom hasn't helped us blog for a few days. All that's been going on around here is a lot of lovey dovey stuff. Yuck! The beans are holding hands, kissing, laughing, going out to dinner and just being plain obnoxious. When I ask them to pay some attention to me, do you know what they say?

They say, "Sorry, we're closed." Huh? What in the world does that mean? I begged for some treats earlier, and they said, "Sorry, we're closed." When I tried to get them out of bed this morning they said, "Sorry, we're closed." What nerve!

I've got something to tell you, furriends. I haven't gone pee pee outside my litter box in SEVEN DAYS!!!! My Mom has tried every litter box known to bean and cat, but I refused to use any of them until...hold your breath...she bought me a dog litter box! The dog box has really low sides and a low entryway, so it doesn't hurt my legs, hips and paws to climb in. I have to be careful with my arthritis, you know!

I thought that I'd dress my tail up in green today, in honor of our Christmas tree. The tree that we only see in our head movies, that is. Our Mom will be spending the holidays alone because our Dad is out of town on business, and The Girl can't make it here this year. If you ask me, I think that our Mom is just a little bit lazy. That's the real reason why she hasn't decorated. Then again, she has been nursing me back to health. Wait, I really feel bad for writing those things. I'm sorry Mom! You can hang some ornaments off of my ears if you'd like to.

We were invited to take part in Hunt Week by our very good furriend,
Fin. Since my Mom has been sick this week, I thought I'd hunt for something that she's been trying to recapture for years and years...her youth. Maybe recapture isn't the right word though, because I think that she wants to put her youth in a choke hold and keep it hostage. I know my Mom is longing to find it because she often sits in her recliner, in a Godiva-chocolate-induced stuper, wailing a Kerriganesque, "Why, why?"

We had torrential rains in South Florida last night, so I thought I'd see if the ocean had churned up my Mom's youth. The end of the rainbow appeared on our beach this morning, so I started looking there. All I found was a pot of gold. The search went on.

I looked in the big metal box that closes you in and puts butterflies in your stomach. My Mom gets in this thing all the time.

I guess she presses the age that she wants to be, and crosses her fingers. Sadly, she always looks the same when she comes back out. I continued hunting.

I looked for that elusive youth in my Mom's second home, the fitness center. This is what my Mom looks like when she comes back from the center. Obviously, she chases her youth around and around in there. Just look at the condition she comes back in. I sniffed around the treadmill but couldn't find anything, so I hunted on. I may be in some trouble for showing one of the points of contention, her saggy elbows.

I hunted in her drawer of "product." This is where she keeps all of the things for the daily costume/mask she puts on. I guess nothing says "I'm not aging," like taking a black Crayon and drawing a line around your already red puffy eyes. The purple eye powder really tops off the look.

I poked around in all of the fancy French creams, soaps, and lotions. No luck.

I offered to play a game of Kick the Can. It worked for those old beans in the Twilight Zone movie. I thought an actual can of the musical fruit might really help. No dice.

Well, although I hunted most of the morning, I didn't have any luck trying to capture my Mom's youth for her. I really don't know why she's complaining so much. I mean, she's not aging at an Renesmee-like rate like us cats are. I've come to the conclusion that she may never capture that cagey youth, and the only way for my Mom to stop aging, is for her to travel to Forks and beg Edward Cullen to bite her. She'd like that. If Edward doesn't cooporate, she may need to take a trip to Hogwarts, to ask one of the witches or warlocks to make her a potion.

It's Raining, It's Pouring

All we need around here is the old man snoring! Good grief! I'm afraid that I'm going to be in big trouble with my Dad, furriends. When he left on a business trip last week, he told me to hold down the fort. Obviously I didn't, because my Mom and Tristan are sick. My Mom was so sick on Monday night, that she got up and drove herself to a hospital. My poor Mom doesn't have her very own doctor here in Florida yet, so she had to find directions to the nearest place for sick people. It seems that she has a serious kidney infection, but she's got some medicine to make her better. I hope it does, because the doctors said she will have to go back to the hospital for some IV's tomorrow if she doesn't feel better.
Meanwhile, Tristan's new V-E-T called and said that my sister has another UTI. So, my Mom dragged her raggedy self out yesterday, and picked up Tristan's meds. And guess what? Tristan became so ill during the night from an allergic reaction to the pills, that our Mom had to drag both her raggedy self and Tristan's raggedy self to the V-E-T this afternoon. Tristan is so dehydrated from vomiting and other things too gross to mention, that she has to stay at the animal hospital. She's getting IV's, just like my Mom might get! We all wish that our Dad was back home.

Old Age Sucks, by Tristan

I went to visit my nice new Florida V-E-T this week. I wasn't very happy with all of the tests and things that she did to me, but I'll overlook all of that because everyone at the office was furriendly. For some reason, my Mom is sad about my geriatric tests and bloodwork results. I heard my new doctor say that I have Hyperthyroidism, and will have to take a pill each day. The doctor also said that I'm in the early stages of Renal failure. My Mom won't tell me what this means, but she did tell me that I get to eat a special new dry food and wet food from now on. I'm not too keen on the idea of new food, but we'll see how it goes. I do know one thing though, I'm not taking a stinking pill. No way.

Hahahaha! Tristan did take that new pill this morning. Our Mom crushed it up and put it in the wet food! Now, I need to figure out how I'm going to get my paws on that new dry food!

Well, I used to pull the carpet here, but that yucko Boundry stuff that the beans have been spraying has pretty much cured me. Can't a cat have any fun? Oh well, Tristan and I have been settling down quite a bit, and the pee problem has been cured as well. That Feliway stuff is worth every dollar! I haven't been going out on the deck much because it's been around 92 degrees here. Whew, is that ever hot! I'm gonna miss those Missouri Autumn days a lot.

We've been in big trouble around here, furriends. Our Mom is hissed off to the max! First, I've been picking at the new carpet, and pulling lots of pieces of it out each night while the beans sleep. I think that I'm doing this because it reminds me of the soft grass I used to eat in my backyard garden paradise. Second, our Mom caught Tristan going pee on a new bedroom rug and when she lifted it up...let's just say that Tristan has been going pee on that rug quite the bit. Tristan is now refusing to go pee in the litter, and she has been sleeping in the litter box! Yucko! There isn't any blood in my sister's urine, so we don't think that the UTI is back. Our poor Mom has been crying and crying, because she says that the move has driven us mad! Meanwhile, our Dad bought some stuff called Boundry, that he's been spraying on the carpet at night, and Tristan is confined to a pen day and night. It's pretty sad around here.
